Possibly the biggest social media platform ever, you will have been living under a rock if you have not heard of Facebook!! The popular social media platform is used for both advertising and social purposes, you know what I mean, sharing lost cat posters, checking out your favourite restaurant, the normal. 

Facebook Advertising can be overwhelming for business owners & who can blame them? Facebook adds 500,000 new users every day & 6 new profiles every second – so there is a lot of potential and pressure!! By using Facebook Ads, you will be able to target audiences, increase awareness, and possibly even convert users into customers. 

It’s important to understand the eleven different Facebook ad types before you dive in if you want to get the best results. We have created the below image to share with you each ad type available to boost your business. 

Image Ads –
Probably the most simple ad, these are a great way to kick off your advertising. Present your business with a simple, clean image format that will boost your existing post & drive clients to your website. Video –
Video has the power to grab the audience’s attention easily and can run in both News Feed and Stories. Add sound and motion about your business to grasp attention.

In this ad type, add up to 10 images or videos about your business product/services in a single ad. You can use this format to highlight different benefits of one product, a number of different products, or even use all the photos together to create one large panorama image.

Collection –
Used primarily within instant shopping. Display a collection of the product from your business catalogue on mobile devices that the audience can buy easily.

Slideshow –
Similar to video-ads, these can be created with images, text, and sounds. Eye-catchy slideshow ads will engage with your audience. 

Instant Experience –
Named as canvas. This ad type offers a full-screen mobile-optimize ad type instantly which loads 15 times faster than a mobile website outside of Facebook.

Lead Generation – 
Lead ads are only available for mobile devices because they’re specifically designed to make it easy for people to give you their contact information without a lot of typing. Recommended for those businesses who want to collect newsletter subscriptions or sign someone up for a trial of your product.

Dynamic ads –
One of the most effective marketing strategies to promote your business to the audience who like it. For instance, If someone has visited a product page or placed a product in their shopping cart on your website, but then abandoned the purchase, dynamic ads for that precise product will appear in their Facebook feed.

Below is an example of a french store, which used dynamic ads to retarget potential customers with carousel, collection, image, and Stories formats resulting in a 124 times return on ad spend.

Messenger ads –
1.3 billion people use Facebook, meaning messenger is a big one to use!! The ad can be shown in the form of image, video, carousel and dynamic on the messenger app. See an example below.

Stories ads –
These are displayed in the full vertical screen, grasping the attention of the consumer. With the size of this ad, it is a lot easier to get involved within the content. 

Playable ads –
